Your first major stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village of earthen clay that has served as the backdrop for films and series including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Wander its narrow alleys and climb to the top for panoramic views.

Day02

After breakfast, set off for the Todra Gorge, a narrow canyon whose limestone walls rise up to 300 metres. Take time to walk along the riverbed, take photos and enjoy the calm before continuing through small Berber villages.
Approaching the Sahara, you pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, and arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here you meet your camels and ride into the heart of the desert as the sun sets and the dunes glow gold.
At your luxury or traditional Berber camp you are welcomed with mint tea. After a dinner of tagine and Moroccan specialties, gather around the campfire for traditional Berber music under a canopy of stars, then sleep in your private tent in the silence of the desert.

Continue to Rissani, former capital of the Tafilalt region and birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty that still rules Morocco today. On market day, explore the lively souk where locals trade everything from spices to livestock.
Then begin the drive back to Marrakech through the Draa Valley, with its endless palm groves and ancient kasbahs, and over the High Atlas once more. You arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where your desert adventure ends.
